Way to Go, Kiddo!

Happy Saturday to you all! I have a card to share with you that I made for my grandson's K-5 graduation. I used PTI's "Way to Go, Kiddo" set. It's an adorable set and I'm glad I finally got to use it. My tree branches and mushroom tops, as well as the background papers are more of my favorite...."Stella and Rose." By now I've left enough plugging for them, and links, that you probably all have your own, or else your tired of seeing them. I'm so very excited to have reached 100 followers. I'm certainly honored and I want to thank all of you who follow my blog, and I love when you take a moment to leave comments. I have been applying Suzanne Dean's Distress Coloring with Copics techniques referenced on our Copic Creations Challenge Blog and I have to say I'm thrilled with the look. I'll post the card I made for my granddaughter's birthday using one of these images. I'm hooked on this manner of coloring. Halloween Tilda

I've been waiting a long time to ink up this combo and I love it. These are both Magnolia images and when I saw the quilt (Picnic Quilt, from '08) I decided that this Witch Tilda with Hat ('09)would look so cute sitting on it. I used Cosmo Cricket's Pixie-licious papers, but I didn't choose them until after Tilda was all colored. I must have subconsciously memorized that color scheme in my head because it was a perfect match to the papers. I chose some leaves and acorns from Flourishes' Falling Leaves set to surround her with instead of flowers. Once again I used my PTI wool felt and their Beautiful Blooms II dies for a flower for the corner. The tiny leaves stamped on the sentiment and the sentiment are from PTI's Mailbox Greetings set. I've taken pictures several cards I've done recently so hopefully I can post more cards for you than I've done in awhile. Thanks for stopping by. Sympathy Card and Baby Pic

Today's card is a Sympathy Card I did using stamps from PTI's Beautiful Blooms II and their Autumn Abundance papers. I background-stamped the basic CS with SU's Autumn Leaf Prints. The sentiment is also from SU's Teeny Tiny Wishes. I also have to share a picture of Grandma and new baby Austin, born last Tuesday at 1:14 AM to my daughter and SIL. Big Brother Ethan is doing well with him although he came down with a Croopy cough this past week-end and can hardly talk, so that has made things a bit rough. Grandma's been on deck to help so I haven't done much stamping in the last week. I'm off to try to leave some long overdue comments. Thank you for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful week.

Happy 4th of July!

Happy 4th of July! - a day early. I hope you have a wonderful time celebrating and I wish you dry weather for viewing fireworks. I made a simple little card to break in my new PTI's Vintage Picnic set. I colored my image with Copics and mounted it on dimensionals and adhered it to my star-embossed background. The top DP piece is PTI's 2008 Bitty Star Basics DP and the ribbon is from Michael's. The main CS is PTI's Kraft paper. My star is punched with my SU star punches and decorated with a button from PTI's vintage buttons. The sentiment is from the Vintage Picnic set. That pretty much says it all for my card. We're cooking out today plus celebrating 2 birthdays, so we're really celebrating! Thanks for stopping by and have a super Holiday week-end!

Sock Monkey Babies

I have some baby cards to share with you. These adorable images are Whimsie Doodles images and can be found here. I learned from Cindy about a site called Vintage Workshop and got these great downloadable designer papers from them. My basic CS was a Kraft paper from PTI and the sentiment is from PTI's Bitty Baby Blessings. They're colored with copics and my train border on the boy's card is a Martha Stewart punch. Ahoy Little Sailor

This adorable little fella is Sailor Boy Randy and he is available at the Busy Beauties Boutique here. I colored him a little while back and just hadn't decided quite how to showcase him. The other day I noticed that my PTI Bitty Baby Blessings set had this sentiment in it and I immediately thought of using Sailor Randy. Then I thought of the Magnolia-Licious stamp "Pier and Fence" I used in the top portion of my card and it all pleasantly came together. The star panel is my Stars embossing folder and I used my Riding Hood Red and Brilliant Blue papers from SU! I love how this turned out- hope you do too. I wanted to make this card for all of you who are longing for Spring. This is a simple card made with Papertrey's Blooming Button Bits. The buttons were a set of white and ivory buttons from PTI that I colored with Copics. It's a cold, crisp morning (for Florida) but the sun shines brightly, the birds are chirping a happy, Spring song, and it promises to be a lovely Saturday. I thought I would wish this for all of you. My son's in-laws are down from Minnesota and they're quite weary of the snow. They're also surprised how cold it is here. It is not our typical mild, balmy weather. But hey, ...... no snow!! I hope you have a lovely week-end and happy stamping.

Christmas on the Classy Side

On Saturday, World Card-Making Day, I wanted to make at least one card in honor of the day, but I got to make two. I'll share the first with you today. I love how this turned out, although it was somewhat slow coming together since I made it up as I went. I got the main idea from a post that Susan "Rainy" Roberts did awhile ago with SU's ornament stamp and punch. I combined stamps from 3 different sets to make this. The main ornament and sentiment are from PTI's 2008 Holiday Tags Collection, the top of the ornament is from Verve's Ornamental Christmas, the background is the Damask stamp from Flourishes. I embossed the Damask in black EP as well as the ornaments and then I punched the ornaments with my 1-3/4" circle punch - a perfect fit. The sentiment is embossed in gold and punched with SU's Modern Label Punch. The ribbon is from Sharon Johnson's Ribbon store. All of this is on gold CS from SU. I used my MS punch for the "holly" and punched little red "berries" with my Crop-a-dile. They were a bit flat, so I added red half-pearls on top of them. My daughter thought the black ribbon confused things with the swirly background and thought something should go on top of the ribbon. The gold cord from SU was too yellow-gold, so I ended up cutting a thin strip of the gold CS and that seemed to work. I topped it all off with the fancy corners die cut for my Cuttlebug. The picture doesn't do justice to how rich it looks with all the embossing. It's a good thing I made these on Saturday because Sunday my cold seems to have turned into the flu. Copic Creations Challenge #11

Today marks the 11th challenge for Copic Creations, and this challenge is sponsored by the very talented Maurie "Mo" Manning at "Digital Pencil Too." The DT were furnished with their choice of image based on their favorite colors to work with. I love the autumn colors so I chose "Kai in the Leaves" for mine. I have deemed her to be a little girl but I went with blues for her clothes to match her fashionable pumpkin sweater. Doesn't she look like she's having fun in those leaves. The Copic colors that I used for the leaves are Y15, Y17, YR04, YR24, E07. I stamped leaves along the outer edge of the CS in More Mustard, Really Rust and Close to Cocoa. I used leaves from PTI's First Fruits set. The sentiment is from PTI's "Mailbox Greetings". All of this is mounted on Garden Green CS from SU. Fun on the Ice - in JUNE?

Today I want to post a winter/Holiday card from Janlynn's Stamps Happen line called "The Skaters". The artist is Claire Stoner and I think it is an adorable and fun image. Doesn't it just make you want to pick out your favorite scarf and mittens and go play in the snow. Well, maybe not now since it's just the beginning of summer, but give it a few months and all you skaters will be anxious to put those skates on. I colored this all with Copics and used an SU! DP from the retired Wintergreen set. I used Soft Sky and Hunter Green for the solid CS. The sentiment is from PTI's Mailbox Greetings. Love that set! Hope you like this fun image. Not Your Usual Grad Card

This is not what you're used to seeing for a graduation card, right? I colored this adorable dragon from Victoria Case Art Designs and have been waiting to put it together. This week I added the pink background from PTI (Berry Sorbet), and then the DP's from Basic Grey's Euphoria. I had need of a graduation card for this week-end and I brought out this sentiment from PTI's Pond Life Sentiments that I decided would be perfect with a graduation card and my "fairy dragon". I do have a stamp with the cap and diploma that says Congratulations Graduate which I stamped on the inside of the card. It just happened that the hat, cut out, fit my dragon's head perfectly. Now this is no ordinary dragon. Her wings are colored in Atyou Spica glitter pens and her belly is alternately Stickles and Flower Soft. Happy Blooms

I am just loving these flower pot stamps from Lockhart Stamps from Ellen Hutson. I have one other one that I haven't done yet, but I couldn't wait to finish these and post them. They're quick and easy to color and I think they're just bright and happy. The papers I used for the Petunias, as well as the ribbon on both cards, are from PTI. They're part of their Perfect Match products. The daisy card uses SU papers. I ran the bottom panel of both cards through my Cuttlebug with Swiss Dots, and the green and purple with Divine Swirl. The flowers are a MS punch that I love with a SU circle-punch center. The "Hello Friend" and "Thank You" came from the Sweet Violets set from Flourishes and were mounted on dimensionals. (I do mix and match, don't I.) I used SU's orange CS for the back of the Petunias, but I sponged it first in Chocolate Chip and then Riding Hood Red. The edges are sponged with Chocolate Chip as well. I wanted to try to bring out the flower pot colors. These went together pretty quickly and I'm really liking them, so I'd like to finish the 3rd one ("Heather") and then make some of these as sets. Relax with a Cup of Tea

A few posts ago I shared a card done with a great craft stamp from the "Stamps Happen" line by Janlynn. Today I am featuring another one of their stamps called "Pot and Cup." I decided to color this in one of my favorite color combos which is yellow and blue. I used my gold pen to "etch" it in gold. The sentiment is from PTI's "Tea for Two". The DP is from Basic Grey's Urban Prairie and I made my own little version of a tea bag for an additional embellishment. My blue papers and brads are SU's Not Quite Navy. I can't wait to stamp the rest of the stamps I got from them. I'm really liking them and can't wait to show you the skaters! Thanks for stopping by. I think I'll go have a cup of tea. Quilt Card Challenge

I was so anxious to participate in this challenge, and I finally finished this last night. Mary issued the challenge and you can read about it here. I used the downloaded "trial size" Christmas paper from PTI for my quilt pieces. I love the festive colors. I also stamped the sentiment on the quilt edges from PTI's "Made of Snow." The paper the sentiment was stamped on was PTI's Spring Moss, which I thought went well with their colors. It was tough matching these greens, but I used Old Olive behind the Spring Moss, and I used a Bazzill paper behind that, all mounted on Real Red. The photo corners have Kaiser Chocolate half-pearls on them. I loved doing this. It certainly went quicker than a real quilt and I love the festive look to it. Thanks for the challenge. Blessings in a Bowl

This is one of my favorite cards. I got the idea to do a bowl like this since I love yellow and blue and I have a miniature set in these colors. The image is "Mixed Greetings" from Flourishes. It is one of their new sets, and there are several possibilities with this set, just as there were with Forest of Trees. I stamped the bowl in More Mustard and drew the blue line with my Prismacolor Pencil. I cut it out and mounted it to give it some dimension. I also colored the fruit with my Prismacolor Pencils, used my scalloped Nesties for the ovals (PTI White and SU More Mustard)and my Label Tags trio Nestie (Brilliant Blue). My background papers are So Saffron and Blue DP from SU!, and Bravo Burgundy as my card base. I used my double-sided ribbon that I got from Flourishes, and attached the blue brads in the corners. Fairly simple, but it's one of my favorites and I will use it for the Holidays, so.....another one done. Yay!

Holiday Series, Part III

Well, here is the last in my series. I really do like this set, and will probably do a version of these for my Thanksgiving cards, so hurray - I've already started. My next two posts are more Holiday featuring my new stamps from Flourishes. I'm really trying to use them as I get them and not let them sit idle.
I also got "tagged" yesterday, but I'm awaiting some final information before posting that. But, I wanted to finish the series and keep up with my posting. Happy Friday and thanks for looking and for the encouraging comments. They always brighten my day.

Holiday Series, Part II

This is the second card I did from the "First Fruits" set from Papertrey Ink. I did the background the same as the first card I posted. I kept it very simple so it's pretty self-explanatory. I used PTI papers. The flourished leaves in the corners were stamped with Versa Magic Chalk Ink in Wheat. Then I stamped over them in Palette's Dark Chocolate so they would show up in a subtle way. I mounted half-pearls on top of circles cut with my punch. Tomorrow I'll be back with the third card. I really do love this set. Thanks for stopping by. Hugs, KrB

Holiday Series

I finally had a chance to make some cards - more than one, in fact. So, tonight I'm going to post the first in a "series" from the set called "First Fruits" from PTI. I really like this set and challenged myself to use all the elements in the set. Apart from a few sentiments and two images, I managed to use the rest of the 12 images and 5 of the sentiments between the 3 cards. I used PTI's Summer Sunrise and stamped off one of the images to create a background. I did the same thing on the green background paper. I took Vintage Cream, mounted on Mellow Moss, and sponged Always Artichoke and then stamped the pine boughs, then went over all of it lightly with River Rock. I used my Nestabilities, both Classic and Scalloped, and I used my double-sided ribbon from Flourishes, as well as my half-pearls in Chocolate from Flourishes. My daughter likes this one the best of the three, but I'll see what you all think. I'll definitely use it for a Thanksgiving card. Thanks for stopping by and I should have Card #2 for you tomorrow.
